My song "I Picked A Bad Day To Go Off Medications" was second runner up in the Newcomer category  in the Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting contest for 2009. It was a great experience and many thanks to the Shifters for their great backing. We played really well I felt which you can see yourself in the video below.

I was pleased with the end result but it also fueled me to finally bite the bullet and get into the studio with supporting musicians. Working with Susan Wheatley's band on the one hand, taking advantage of a longtime playing friendship that has florished over the last year, and the original Shifters on the other, it will take many of the songs to a powerful new level. Finally songs written, some as long as 4 years ago, can be polished and produced creating space for more music to follow. Time to clear the slate and get moving.
